As a licensed financial professional, Tom Marchant brings extensive experience to the table in the insurance and financial sector. He has worked at some of the most renowned Fortune 500 companies in the world, including New York Life, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Capital One.
He was inspired to go into the financial industry at a young age when he observed his father’s journey and the power that proper financial planning had over his life. Like many who survived the depression era, Tom’s father was not a man of great wealth, but he retired well off because of his discipline with saving. From his father’s example, Tom adopted the philosophy that your financial security is not about how much money you can earn, but how much money you can save. To this day, Tom strives to instill that mindset in his clients.
Clients appreciate that Tom is down to earth and understanding of their needs no matter how big or small. He takes his time with his clients and encourages them to think through and explore multiple scenarios before choosing the path they would like to take. Whether they’ve done a lot of planning or none at all, Tom meets them where they are and helps them implement the right mix of products and services for their needs. He strives to be a wonderful listener, and enjoys getting to know each client’s unique story.
As a former Marine and a retired member of the U.S. Navy Reserves, Tom relishes the opportunity he had to see many parts of the world. He loves the diversity in Hawaii, and likes the variety of clients he is able to assist as well. Whether you’re in your twenties and just beginning to think about your financial future, or in your fifties and realizing you’re way behind on savings and retirement, Tom is eager to help you address your needs and get you on the right path.
Prior to entering the financial services industry, Tom built a successful business from the ground up, and eventually sold it. Because of his experiences in that arena, he understands firsthand the financial challenges and opportunities that being a business owner presents. He works with a lot of Korean business owners in Hawaii, and is improving his Korean to communicate better.
Tom is passionate about education, and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Avila University and an MBA from Strayer University.
Outside of the office, Tom has many unique interests that also convey his desire to serve others. He enjoys speaking Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean, and has a passion for facilitating knowledge to others.
